However, even if there is an increase in the use of these technological advancements in the growing field of sports, they cannot and should not, replace the role and authority of the match referee and the umpires on the field. Their judgments should not be overlooked. Technology should only be used to aid the umpires and not to take over the jobs of these people, who are supposed to ensure that the game carries on forward without any untoward incident. Umpires should not appear to be biased, partial or unfair at any costs, as they are expect to be the highest upholders of the spirit of sport.
Sports technology is one part of a very big machine of getting an athlete ready for race day. If you think about it there's sports scientists that will be dealing with their technique, their conditioning, their nutrition. Psychologists to help them prepare for the day. We're dealing with all of their equipment. Any inanimate object that the athlete interacts with from the footwear, the socks, the compression apparel, the training apparel, rehabilitation aids, gloves, helmet - you name it. If it's something that an athlete has to interact with to carry out the sport that they're competing in a sports technologist will have been involved in some part of that process.

Because technology can give sports something nothing else can, an unmistakable truth. Or so they say. Due to the fact that people are, well, people, they are bound to make mistakes.
